General Manager
Oyster Care Homes is recruiting a General Manager for Ponbay Lodge, Hastings. The role carries overall responsibility for the day-to-day running of the home, promoting a caring environment and ensuring residents receive a high standard of specialised personal care.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of the home, including standards of care, recruitment, training, communication with the team, premises and financial matters.
- Recognise and assess residents’ needs, involving professional agencies and relatives where needed, to formulate personalised care plans.
- Provide the highest level of personal care and attention to residents, following individual care plans carefully and ensuring all contact is polite, friendly, warm and supportive.
- Ensure compliance with statutory and legal requirements relevant throughout the home.
- Administer medication to residents as prescribed, maintain accurate records and manage stock control.
- Maintain effective communication and good relationships with all stakeholders both internal and external.
- Recruit suitable team members, conduct inductions and meet CIS training standards.
- Organise the team, arrange rotas, manage absence and ensure adequate staffing.
- Control and monitor the budget and expenditure, prepare monthly cash flow reports for the Directors and record all financial information.
- Support residents with personal financial arrangements, maintaining confidentiality.
- Market, promote and sell the home.
- Deal with all prospective residents, provide information, guided tours, assess new residents and negotiate appropriate fees.

- Understanding of Hastings local authority.
- Experience with regulatory bodies.
- Knowledge of Person Centred Software (PCS).
Hours Of Work
09.00 – 17.00, Monday to Friday with flexibility as required. 40 hours per week, £60k‑£75k per annum.
