About Paul Rhodes Bakery

Founded by former Michelin-starred chef Paul Rhodes in 2003, Paul Rhodes Bakery has built a strong reputation for supplying London's restaurants, hotels, cafés and venues with quality handcrafted sourdoughs, cakes and pastries.

As we continue to grow, we are looking for talented individuals to join our friendly, supportive team. We value collaboration, initiative and continuous improvement, creating an environment where people can make a meaningful contribution to the business.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Part-Time Senior Credit Controller to take ownership of credit control, collections and customer account relationships across a diverse customer base, from independent businesses to large corporate groups.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is confident managing complex accounts, working with large datasets and navigating multiple customer portals and financial systems. You will play an important role in maintaining cash flow, improving collections performance and ensuring accurate, timely Accounts Receivable reporting.

You will work closely with the Financial Controller, AR Analyst and wider finance team, while leading weekly and monthly AR reporting meetings and driving outstanding actions through to resolution.

We are looking for someone who combines strong technical capability with commercial awareness, adaptability and a proactive approach to improving processes in a changing business environment.

Key Responsibilities

Credit Control and Customer Relationships

  • Manage collections and overdue balances in line with established credit control procedures.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with corporate clients, including complex group accounts, multi-site customers and central payment teams.
  • Investigate payment discrepancies, resolve account queries and work collaboratively with internal departments to secure timely payments.
  • Monitor high-risk and persistently overdue accounts, escalating concerns and recommending appropriate actions to the Financial Controller.
  • Set up new customer accounts, conduct credit checks, gather company information and recommend suitable credit limits and payment terms.
  • Navigate customer portals confidently, adapting to new platforms and processes as required.

Accounts Receivable Reporting and Analysis

  • Prepare accurate AR reports covering aged debt, collection performance, overdue accounts, risks and outstanding actions.
  • Lead weekly and monthly AR reporting meetings, communicating key findings and following up on agreed actions.
  • Prepare and submit AR data through the business's various customer and financial facilities.
  • Analyse large datasets to identify trends, investigate discrepancies and support informed decision-making.
  • Maintain accurate account records and provide clear, timely updates to the Financial Controller and relevant stakeholders.

Sales Ledger and Finance Support

  • Process and reconcile retail sales.
  • Provide cover for invoicing, direct debit runs and sales uploads into the accounting system.
  • Support month-end activities and wider finance processes as required.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting accuracy, streamline workflows and increase efficiency through systems and automation.

What We're Looking For

Essential Experience and Skills

  • 5+ years' experience in credit control, ideally within complex, high-volume or operationally demanding environments.
  • Proven experience managing large datasets and complex customer accounts, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Confidence engaging with corporate clients, managing payment relationships and resolving complex account queries professionally.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs, XLOOKUPs and PivotTables, with the ability to analyse and interpret large volumes of data.
  • Experience working across multiple customer portals and financial systems, with the ability to learn new technologies quickly.
  • Strong adaptability and agility, with a positive approach to changing priorities, processes and systems.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, combined with the confidence to manage challenging payment conversations.
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented and reliable, with the ability to manage competing priorities independently across a part-time working week.
  • Experience preparing AR reports and leading reporting meetings, with the confidence to present findings and follow through on actions.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience within food manufacturing, wholesale, FMCG or another high-volume, operationally complex industry.
  • Exposure to AI-enabled systems, reporting automation or technology-led process improvements.
  • Familiarity with accounting software and cloud-based finance platforms.

Working Arrangements

  • 20 hours per week, spread across a minimum of three working days.
  • Hybrid / remote working, with Thursday as a mandatory onsite day at our Greenwich Office.
  • The remaining working hours can be arranged around business requirements and agreed with the Financial Controller.

Why Join Paul Rhodes Bakery?

  • Join a close-knit, supportive team where collaboration and relationships matter.
  • Work in a varied, commercially important role with scope to contribute to process and reporting improvements.
  • Enjoy the flexibility of a part-time position with hybrid / remote working.
  • Benefit from employee perks, including free and discounted bakery products, a birthday cake of your choice, a shop discount, company social events, a referral bonus, a Cycle to Work Scheme, paid breaks and additional annual leave based on length of service.
