Finance Manager
We are looking for a Finance Manager to lead the finance function across The Mercure and Ibis Styles Paignton hotels. Working closely with the General Manager and Heads of Department, you will make sure our financial information is accurate, our controls are strong and our teams have the insight they need to make good decisions. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys being part of hotel operations and is confident asking questions, challenging costs and finding ways to improve performance.
About the hotels and RBH
Located on Paignton seafront, Mercure Paignton Hotel and ibis Styles Paignton are two distinctive hotels with busy food and beverage operations and a mix of leisure and business guests. You will work across both properties, building relationships with the teams who keep them running every day.
A day in the life of a Finance manager
No two days will look quite the same, but you can expect to:
- Lead the day-to-day finance function across both hotels, making sure reporting, reconciliations and month-end information are accurate and delivered on time.
- Work with the General Manager and Heads of Department to understand performance against budget, explain variances and identify opportunities to improve results.
- Support budgeting and forecasting, using your understanding of hotel operations to turn figures into practical recommendations.
- Oversee income audit, cash handling, banking, purchasing, supplier payments and credit control, ensuring effective financial controls are followed.
- Review payroll and other departmental costs with managers, helping them respond to changes in business levels.
- Coach colleagues on financial processes and build a shared sense of accountability across both hotels.
- Work closely with the Hotel Accountant and central finance teams, providing the information and insight they need.
What we need from you
You will bring experience in a hotel finance role and be comfortable taking responsibility for financial controls, reporting and commercial performance across a busy operation. You will also have:
- Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, month-end processes and financial reconciliations.
- The confidence to explain financial information clearly to colleagues who do not work in finance.
- A practical approach to spotting risks, resolving issues and improving processes.
- Good attention to detail, organisation and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
- Experience working with operational managers to control costs and improve performance.
- The confidence to challenge decisions constructively and build strong working relationships.
- Experience working across more than one hotel would be useful, but your ability to take ownership and work effectively with our teams matters most.
