Oxwash is re-engineering the laundry industry from the ground up. Our aim is for clinically clean, net-zero carbon emissions for the whole laundry process. This has never been accomplished and we are determined to be the first truly sustainable on-demand laundry company in the world. We currently operate in Oxford, Cambridge and London, with plans for further growth throughout the UK as well as into the US. We are a tech company at heart and have built a suite of proprietary software to power our sustainable laundries and logistics.
We need two innovative and agile process managers to run our processing operations in London. You will be someone who has the cerebral and tangible ability to lead a team of industry experts, build internal and external stakeholder relationships and exploit any opportunity to improve efficiencies in our processing operations. You will do all this whilst maintaining the highest possible standards throughout your lagoon. You will manage our processing operations, having full oversight of the lagoon floor; implementing and improving the novel automated tracking process we are currently onboarding. You will have full autonomy for how you wish to manage your team and process and the support of the London General Manager and Head of Operations in doing so.
Your work will be vital as we grow to serve the whole of London, the processes you implement will facilitate and be critical to our success in the capital. We are looking for incredible people with the desire to deliver our Oxwash mission. This is not your standard 9-5. Working for a fast-growing startup is hard; it’s fast-paced and this will likely be the toughest, most rewarding job you have ever done. You should be driven by a deep-seated desire to change the climate crisis for the better, and understand your skills are needed to make that happen.
Your job is to oversee and manage the daily processing operations of our Battersea lagoon. You will be a natural leader. Standardisation is key, things must be done in the same way in each of our laundries, from the dosing of detergent in the machines to the way we fold a customer's pillowcases. You will play a pivotal part in ensuring consistency; this is tough and requires an exacting eye for detail and diplomatic communication with our team. You will be meticulous about standards and relentless in your pursuit of excellence, this will cascade to your team. You will have an aptitude for process design, even if you haven’t built a depth of experience yet.
Automation will pave the way for us to grow in an efficient manner. You will be tech orientated and obsessed with finding ways to decrease work whilst increasing output. HR will be part of your role and you will be expected to support your team and provide constructive feedback to enable progression. We are very proud of the experience and culture in the Battersea branch and we expect you to build the team's trust quickly and help them all develop personally to enable them to deliver our growth.
You must be a sustainability champion. We expect you to act in an environmentally conscious way, with a passion to do more. Not only reduce environmental impact but be a role model for positive change.
We will only consider your application if you include a personalised message explaining your interest in the role.
Job Type: Permanent, full-time
Salary: £29,000-£32,000 (experience and skillset dependent) + generous EMI share options.
The Basics: We are looking for two process managers to lead our processing operations in Battersea. You will work closely with our London General Manager and Head of Operations. You are expected to hustle every single day to find areas to increase efficiency, every gram counts as we strive for carbon neutrality alongside laundry excellence. Burnout is real. You are expected to manage your levels of energy, time and maintain a healthy balance to ensure you are at your A-game every day. You are also responsible to make sure your team does the same. Oxwash makes leaders, not managers. Your role is to make sure every member of the team has the skills and knowledge to be a disruptor for good if they were to leave the company and make sure they love their job enough to stay.
Benefits: Free laundry and wet cleaning (of course!), free mental health support through SPILLEMI, equity share in the business, flexible working environment, 30 days holiday including eight statutory bank holidays (pro-rata), pension scheme.
Equal Employment Opportunity: We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
