Oxwash is re‑engineering the laundry industry from the ground up. Our aim is for clinically clean, net‑zero carbon emissions for the whole laundry process. This has never been accomplished and we are determined to be the first truly sustainable on‑demand laundry company in the world. We currently operate in Oxford, Cambridge and London, with plans for further growth throughout the UK as well as into the US.
We are a tech company at heart and have built a suite of proprietary software to power our sustainable laundries and logistics. We are venture‑backed, having raised several rounds of investment from notable investors including Biz Stone, the co‑founder of Twitter, Paul Forster, the founder of Indeed.com, and Reckitt, the corporate that owns the stain remover Vanish; we announced our ‘Oxwash, powered by Vanish’ partnership in early 2021. We were ranked a top 100 Startup (43rd) by startups.co.uk this month.
We need two innovative and agile process managers to run our processing operations in London. You will be someone who has the cerebral and tangible ability to lead a team of industry experts, build internal and external stakeholder relationships and exploit any opportunity to improve efficiencies in our processing operations. You will do all this whilst maintaining the highest possible standards throughout your lagoon.
You will manage our processing operations, having full oversight of the lagoon floor; implementing and improving the novel automated tracking process we are currently onboarding. You will have full autonomy for how you wish to manage your team and process and the support of the London General Manager and Head of Operations in doing so.
Your work will be vital as we grow to serve the whole of London, the processes you implement will facilitate and be critical to our success in the capital. We are looking for incredible people with the desire to deliver our Oxwash mission. This is not your standard 9‑5. Working for a fast‑growing startup is hard; it’s fast‑paced and this will likely be the toughest, most rewarding job you have ever done. You should be driven by a deep‑seeded desire to change the climate crisis for the better, and understand your skills are needed to make that happen.
Your job is to oversee and manage the daily processing operations of our Battersea lagoon. You will be a natural leader. Standardisation is key; things must be done in the same way in each of our laundries, from the dosing of detergent in the machines to the way we fold a customer’s pillowcases. You will play a pivotal part in ensuring consistency, which is tough and requires an exacting eye for detail and diplomatic communication with our team. You will be meticulous about standards and relentless in your pursuit of excellence; this will cascade to your team.
You will have an aptitude for process design, even if you haven’t built a depth of experience yet. Automation will pave the way for us to grow in an efficient manner. You will be tech‑oriented and obsessed with finding ways to decrease work whilst increasing output.
HR will be part of your role and you will be expected to support your team and provide constructive feedback to enable progression. We are very proud of the experience and culture in the Battersea branch and we expect you to build the team’s trust quickly and help them all develop personally to enable them to deliver our growth.
You must be a sustainability champion. We expect you to act in an environmentally conscious way, with a passion to do more. Not only reduce environmental impact but be a role model for positive change.
