We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Teacher of Music to deliver high-quality lessons that support students in achieving outstanding progress. The successful candidate will set clear learning targets, assess student progress with regular feedback, and ensure students are well-prepared for examinations. With a genuine passion for Music, you’ll help our students grow academically, socially, and emotionally, while staying up-to-date with current educational thinking. They will contribute to schemes of work, maintain a stimulating learning environment, and engage with parents and the wider school community. The role also involves taking responsibility for professional development and actively participating in school duties and performance management activities. This is a part-time, permanent position (0.4FTE - 0.6FTE).

Subject Specific Information:

The Performing Arts Faculty (Music and Drama) is a team of dedicated and enthusiastic teachers who deliver the Music curriculum currently to Key Stages 3 and 4. As a faculty, we work well collaboratively and are open to innovative approaches and strategies. We have an excellent extra-curricular programme with several vocal groups/choirs, Concert Band, Keyboard Club, bands for different year groups and opportunities for students to book practice rooms to create their own bands/music. We run three whole school concerts per year, an annual Music Interhouse Competition. Each year the faculty puts on a school wide production where all students are welcome to be part of the cast and crew. We have recently finished Mary Poppins Jr which included a cast of over 70 students and a backstage and lighting crew all made up of students from KS3 and 4. This was a full cast and crew of 92 students in total.

Music at Oxted School develops students’ musical understanding and enjoyment of music through a creative and engaging curriculum. Lessons are taught in mixed ability classes throughout the key stages, and we strive to create a sense of belonging in the department within lessons and through the wider life of Performing Arts within the school.

Ideally, the successful candidate will have the ability to play the piano and provide accompaniment however, this is not essential.
