Touring Technician for the tour of ‘Dance in the Dark’. The role comprises working with the Production Manager and Director to prepare for and deliver the production on tour.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend technical rehearsal days in person, including dress rehearsal, to include a hand over from digital/lighting/sound designers.
- Adapt tech spec for tour venues (with Production Manager).
- Become familiar with all technical aspects of the show (get in, rig and focus, projection and sound design).
- Liaise with tour venues in advance over technical aspects / get-in / get-out.
- Prepare in advance all technical aspects of the production for the tour (regarding lighting, digital and sound operation of the show) and liaise with venue technicians in advance to organise/confirm get-ins.
- Set up and run the technical side of production (Dance in the Dark) during its national tour to theatres.
- Take responsibility for all technical aspects of the production (operating lights, sound and projections).
- Work with the stage manager on get-ins and get-out, including load in and out of set.
- Develop a good working relationship with the performers and stage manager.
- Become familiar with all the touring information, touring systems and paperwork associated with the tour.
- Keep the Director/Stage Manager informed of any significant changes / relevant information.
On Tour
- Whilst on tour the Technician is responsible for ensuring the tour is carried out in a safe and professional manner.
- With the Stage Manager, co-ordinate and manage get ins and get outs, working with performers and working with technical staff at theatre venues.
- Work with the Stage Manager to ensure that the load of set into the company van is safely stored and secured.
- Set up technical equipment (lights, digital, sound, laptop and sound equipment) and operate lights, digital and sound for the show using QLab and/or ETC Nomad.
- Oversee/undertake the set up/rigging of the set (sleepover den).
- Ensure that technical equipment is in good working order and inform the Director if any problems develop and carry out repairs or source replacement items as required.
- Rig/ focus / soundcheck and oversee the relight.
