Enterprise Oxfordshire | Oxfordshire | Up to Β£95,000
Four-day week | Predominantly remote | 12% pension
Enterprise Oxfordshire is looking for a Director of Corporate & Finance to lead a genuinely broad remit across finance, governance and Corporate Services.
Its a small organisation of around thirty people, so this isnt a traditional Finance Director role with a few extra responsibilities bolted on. Youll sit alongside the Managing Director and wider leadership team, helping shape how the organisation operates, grows and evolves over the next few years.
Finance is a major part of the role. Youll lead financial strategy, planning and sustainability, advise the MD and Board, and make sure significant public and grant funding is managed properly, delivers value for money and stands up to audit scrutiny.
But the remit goes much wider than finance.
Youll also oversee governance, risk, compliance, procurement, contracts and wider Corporate Services, with responsibility for areas such as Company Secretarial work and broader organisational infrastructure.
They need someone who is comfortable joining the dots across all of that.
Someone who can look at the organisation as a whole, not just the numbers.
You might currently be a CFO, Finance & Resources Director, Director of Corporate Services, Director of Finance & Operations or in another similarly broad leadership role.
Youll need a professional accountancy qualification β ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent β but just as important is the breadth of your leadership experience.
Youll likely have worked in an organisation where governance, accountability and public or restricted funding really matter. That could be local or central government, a LEP or Growth Hub, education, housing, charity, healthcare or another publicly funded or regulated environment.
Youll also need to be commercially minded and comfortable leading change. Enterprise Oxfordshire is entering an important period around funding, structure and longer-term sustainability, so they need someone who can help shape that rather than simply maintain what is already there.
This is a senior leadership role, but its a lean organisation. Youll need to be happy operating at Board level one minute and getting involved directly when something needs sorting the next.
The practicalities: its a genuine four-day week, paid for 37.5 hours while working 30, with most people taking either a Monday or Friday off. Its predominantly home-based, with the team together in Oxford roughly once a week, usually a Wednesday, so youll need to live within a realistic commuting distance.
Youll also get 23 days' holiday on top of the four-day pattern, a 12% employer pension against a 4% minimum employee contribution, healthcare and flexitime.
Its a fixed-term contract through to 2028, linked to the current funding cycle, with the potential to become permanent as the longer-term structure becomes clearer.
