The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.

We are a team of six based at Fire Service HQ in Kidlington, working from this office at least two days per week and additionally travelling to meetings and training in other locations around the Thames Valley. The team handles a complex workload, managing a wide variety of workstreams and responses to incidents across several organisations both in and out of normal working hours. We work to ensure compliance against several statutory legislations with the whole team supporting planning, training and exercising across all areas. Our purpose is to protect our community, reduce harm and save lives.

Our key team priorities are:

  • Empowering communities with the knowledge and tools to prepare for and recover from incidents and emergencies.
  • Improving our data-driven insights for decision-making and emergency response.
  • Continuously improving through innovation, learning, and best practice.
  • Providing trusted resilience services to Oxfordshire County Council and further developing the paid service to local authority partners.
  • Supporting and coordinating OCC's response 24/7 to incidents and emergencies with other Cat 1, Cat 2 partners and other stakeholders.

To be successful in the role, you will ideally have previous experience of working in a Local Authority, Category 1 organisation, Emergency Planning or Business Continuity environment or the enthusiasm to learn a variety of skills quickly. This role will include several identified planning workstreams which you will take the lead for writing plans and producing training and exercising. This role includes participating in the on-call rota once competent. This is a busy role with many competing demands. This role will involve meeting and working with a variety of staff and partners and attending and chairing meetings both within the county and in neighbouring counties.

You should have the ability to work independently and be able to prioritise competing demands and pressures to meet deadlines. Excellent communication, attention to detail, numeracy and literacy skills including the ability to gather and compile information in various formats, analyse and present the information in a clear way is essential for this role. You should have the ability to use Microsoft applications effectively. You should be able to work within a team and have the flexibility to adapt to challenging incidents that may disrupt planned work and may require out of hours working. You must be able to drive and live within an hour of Oxfordshire.
