At OQC, we aren’t just theorising about the future; we’re building it. Born from a philosophy of bold innovation, we’ve successfully transitioned quantum computing from an academic dream into a commercial reality. The most exciting thing is that we’re just getting started.

You will play a critical role in developing and scaling the fabrication processes that power our quantum processors. Your work will directly impact device performance, coherence, and our ability to deliver commercially viable quantum hardware.

The Role

You will take a lead role in the end-to-end fabrication of superconducting quantum devices, driving process excellence from blank wafer through to final QPU delivery. Working at the intersection of research and production, you’ll solve complex fabrication challenges, optimise processes, and contribute to the advancement of OQC’s nanofabrication capabilities. The ideal candidate will have the experience to guide and mentor others, overseeing team workloads and anticipating issues and making decisions to ensure rapid resolution.

What You'll Be Working On
  • Executing full-stack nanofabrication processes from wafer to finished QPU with high precision and reproducibility
  • Building and characterising superconducting quantum devices aligned to coherence and performance targets
  • Leading fabrication activities across multiple projects, including prioritisation and planning
  • Troubleshooting complex fabrication issues and supporting team-wide problem solving
  • Driving process improvements across lithography (including e-beam and photolithography), materials, and tooling
  • Performing metrology, testing, and data analysis to validate device performance and identify optimisation opportunities
  • Contributing to technical documentation, roadmap updates, and external scientific engagement
What We're Looking For
  • Proven experience executing multi-step nanofabrication processes in cleanroom environments
  • Experience leading teams, either formally as a manager or through the coordination of project teams to meet technical goals
  • Strong hands‑on expertise in electron-beam lithography, photolithography and Dry Etching
  • Experience with thin film deposition and metrology, ideally for superconducting materials
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot fabrication processes and drive continuous improvement
  • Experience with wafer-scale processing and device fabrication workflows
  • Solid foundation in experimental design, data collection, and analysis
  • Degree (or equivalent experience) in Physics, Materials Science, Engineering, or a related field
The 'Nice-to-Haves'
  • PhD (or equivalent experience) in a relevant discipline
  • Experience in commercial nanofabrication environments
  • Expertise in electron-beam shadow evaporation of Josephson junctions
  • Familiarity with advanced metrology tools (SEM, AFM, FIB)
  • Experience with mask design and 2D CAD tools
  • Background in superconducting device physics and electrical probe measurements
  • Experience mentoring or guiding junior engineers
Why Join OQC

You will join a world-class team at the forefront of the next computational era. We offer a culture of bold innovation, the chance to work with unique lab infrastructure, and the opportunity to see your work redefine the limits of computation.
