The Role
As a Quantum Engineer, you will join an elite group of experimental physicists and engineers driving the performance of OQC’s quantum systems. This isn’t a purely theoretical role; you will be hands-on, designing, characterizing, and optimizing the next generation of our quantum processors. You will be the architect of qubit performance navigating the complexities of cryogenic environments and microwave hardware to ensure our systems deliver real-world results.
What You’ll Be Working On
- System Mastery: Maintain and operate OQC’s quantum systems, including complex qubit calibration routines and control electronics.
- Experimental Rigor: Design and execute high-fidelity experiments on superconducting quantum circuits to push the boundaries of coherence and gate performance.
- Data-Driven Analysis: Use Python to analyze system performance, from quantum operation fidelity to cryogenic payload simulations.
- Software Evolution: Contribute to our Python-based control software stack, developing modules for automation, simulation, and improved system robustness.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Hardware and Software teams to integrate experimental workflows into a seamless technology stack.
- Research Visibility: Help maintain OQC’s position at the forefront of the field through scientific publications and conference participation.
For Senior Quantum Engineers:
- Manage and own technical projects from initial system build through to final reporting.
- Mentor junior engineers to develop their technical and experimental skill sets.
- Take a lead role in defining the roadmap for system-wide performance improvements.
What We’re Looking For
- Core Experience:
- Experimental Background: Experience in an academic or industrial lab working with superconducting circuits, cryogenics, or advanced measurement instrumentation.
- Programming: Proficiency in Python for automation, data analysis, and experimental control.
- Technical Communication: The ability to distill complex scientific findings into clear reports and presentations.
- Problem Solving: A proven track record of managing time effectively while tackling high-stakes technical hurdles.
