New Trustees-Financial Planning & Budget

We seek Trustees who can think creatively and strategically, with effective communication skills and personal qualities shown below.

What difference will you make? We are looking for people willing to bring energy, enthusiasm and commitment to the role, and who will broaden the diversity of thinking on our board. You do not need previous governance experience – we will provide a full induction and training.

As a small charity, Oxford Wood Recycling will at times require trustees to be actively involved beyond Board meetings. This may involve scrutinising board papers, leading discussions, focusing on key issues, providing advice and guidance on new initiatives, presenting externally, or other issues in which the trustee has special expertise.

What will you be doing?

Oxford Wood Recycling is a social enterprise with a dual mission to increase the sustainable use of wood, and to improve the employability of those who face barriers to working. Our board of trustees ensures that Oxford Wood Recycling has a clear strategy for achieving its core purposes, and that our work and goals are in line with our vision. Just as importantly, they support and challenge the executive team to enable Oxford Wood Recycling to grow and thrive. They also oversee the overall management and administration of the charity.

Board members have a collective responsibility. This means that trustees always act as a group and not as individuals.

Duties

  • Support and provide advice on Oxford Wood Recycling’s purpose, vision, goals and activities.
  • Approve operational strategies and policies, and monitor and evaluate their implementation.
  • Particularly we are seeking one or more trustees to oversee Oxford Wood Recycling’s financial plans and budgets.
  • Review and approve Oxford Wood Recycling’s financial statements.
  • Ensure the effective and efficient administration of the organisation.
  • Ensure that key risks are being identified, monitored and controlled effectively.
  • Provide support and challenge to Oxford Wood Recycling’s CEO.
  • Keep abreast of changes in Oxford Wood Recycling’s operating environment.
  • Contribute to regular reviews of Oxford Wood Recycling’s own governance.
  • Attend Board meetings, adequately prepared to contribute to discussions.
  • Contribute to the broader external promotion of Oxford Wood Recycling’s objects, aims and reputation.
