Looking for a role where your nursing skills are valued, your ideas are heard, and your career can genuinely grow? Oxford Vet Clinic has recently relaunched following an extensive renovation, and we are excited to welcome an additional RVN to our growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a modern, forward-thinking practice that combines excellent facilities, strong clinical leadership, and a calm, compassionate approach to patient care.
About Oxford Vet Clinic: Oxford Vet Clinic is the evolution of a much-loved practice. Formerly a cat-only clinic, our Marston branch has been thoughtfully transformed to welcome all small animals — while retaining the exceptional clinical standards and calm, compassionate approach we are known for. Our Botley practice, Oxford Cat Clinic, remains 100% feline, with no changes to its cat-only focus or facilities. We temporarily closed to renovate and redesign the space, ensuring it supports excellent veterinary care for all pets, efficient modern workflows, and a low-stress environment for both patients and team members.
The Team: You will be joining a friendly, supportive, and collaborative team where nurses are encouraged to use their full skill set and explore areas they are passionate about. Lead Nurse Phebie is currently completing her CertAVN in Medical Nursing, while RVN Shalayna has a strong interest in anaesthesia, highlighting the breadth of expertise within our nursing team. You will also work alongside a team of ambitious and skilled vets, offering plenty of opportunities to expand your clinical knowledge.
Daily team huddles keep communication open, giving everyone space to discuss cases, share ideas, and support one another — creating a truly collaborative environment where every voice is valued.
The Rota: We understand the importance of work-life balance, which is why we have designed a flexible, balanced schedule. Clinic hours: 5 days a week, 2 days: 8 am–8 pm, 3 days: 8 am–6 pm, 8-hour shifts rostered within these hours. Paid lunch breaks. Weekend cover: 1 in 5, currently at our Botley site. Saturday: 8.30 am–2.30 pm, Sunday: 8.30 am–12.30 pm. Time off in lieu the following week. Late inpatient checks: typically one per week when on late shift (10 pm) for stable inpatients at Botley. Weekend inpatient late checks shared with the duty vet. No out-of-hours or bank holiday work (outsourced). Bonus payment for any late checks carried out.
The social scene: We are a friendly, close-knit team who genuinely enjoy spending time together — whether that’s sharing a laugh over a cuppa at work, heading to the local pub for a meal, or getting competitive over a game of junkyard miniature golf. Our Christmas celebrations are always a highlight, with great food, plenty of drinks, and usually a bit of dancing too.
The local area: Oxford has something for everyone, from its stunning architecture, rich history, and vibrant cultural scene to punting on the River Isis and hiking, cycling, and nature walks in the picturesque countryside of the Cotswolds and Chiltern Hills. It is also just an hour to London by train and has easy access to the M4.
We offer:
- A salary from £28,000, depending on experience
- 5 weeks' holiday, plus bank holidays
- Your birthday off
- CPD encouraged, with certificates supported and funded
- Professional fees paid for RCVS and VDS
