We are seeking an experienced finance professional to join our Group Finance Function as a Finance Business Partner. The role will lead in providing financial analysis and commercial support, and provide insightful, meaningful, and timely commercial insight to guide effective decision making. The role is also responsible for supporting the delivery of financial results, strategy, budgeting and forecasting and business performance improvements.

The role partners closely with programme managers, project leads and budget holders, providing clear, timely financial insight to drive effective decision-making, cost control and operational delivery. It leads the creation of budgets, forecasts and business cases through robust analysis and modelling, delivers insightful monthly performance reporting, and provides ad hoc commercial and scenario analysis. The role also strengthens financial models, reporting and insight while acting as a trusted finance partner to operational teams and senior stakeholders across OUP.

We operate a hybrid working policy that requires a minimum of 2 days per week in the Oxford office.

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have/be:

  • Finance qualification or equivalent demonstrable experience
  • Experience of business case development, capital evaluation and planning
  • Initiative and ability to successfully implement new ideas, with drive to push through
  • Ability to clearly communicate compelling messages - verbal and written
  • Commitment to continual personal professional development
  • Knowledge in finance tools (including excel) and technology awareness (desirable)
  • Experience of working in a matrix environment, balancing different stakeholder needs (desirable)
