About the Role
We are looking for a Business Product Owner to provide leadership, direction, and momentum within the Academic Product function at Oxford University Press. Working collaboratively, you will transform high-level product vision, strategy, and roadmaps into initiatives, features, and detailed user stories, refining product requirements and planning iterations to meet business goals. You will enable the delivery of new products and features through prioritising work for delivery teams, determining minimum viable products, and accepting deliverables according to agreed ways of working.
The Business Product Owner will provide business input to inform the development of product roadmaps, business processes, and standards, so that quality requirements are met, and necessary inputs are available to the delivery team when required. You will work with Product Portfolio Managers and subject matter experts, leading refinement sessions, bringing market experience to bear, so that work can be sized and prioritised. You will work in a fast-moving, results-driven environment within a highly supportive product team. We operate a hybrid working policy that requires a minimum of 2 days per week in the Oxford office.
About You
We are looking for a highly skilled communicator with excellent stakeholder management skills, able to influence outcomes within a matrix structure. The role requires creativity, curiosity, and resourcefulness. Experience in presenting to varied audiences and managing formal settings is important. Previous experience in the publishing industry across both print and digital is desirable. You will be comfortable navigating change and uncertainty, demonstrating resilience under pressure and a calm, mature approach during challenging situations. Strong organisational and planning skills are key. Successful candidates will have proven success in a product or digital delivery role, with experience working with Agile methodologies and tools and knowledge of how to define, test, and refine user journeys. You will have a clear focus on delivering outcomes, making timely decisions, and be comfortable utilising and interpreting data.
Benefits
We care about work/life balance here at OUP. With this in mind, we offer 25 days' holiday that rises with service, plus bank holidays and Christmas closure (3-days) and a 35-hour working week.
