About the Role

We are looking for a proactive and data‑driven marketing professional to support the delivery of our core journals marketing programme. Working closely with the Marketing Manager, you will help execute scalable, best‑practice campaigns that increase journal visibility, engage authors and drive submissions across a diverse portfolio. This is an excellent opportunity to play a hands‑on role in delivering consistent, high‑quality marketing activity within a dynamic scholarly publishing environment.

In this role, you will deliver and optimise marketing programmes aligned to individual journal business objectives, using insights from campaign and journal‑level metrics to continuously refine approaches. You will contribute to the ongoing improvement of marketing processes and assets, including web content, templates and playbooks, while ensuring campaigns are delivered on time and to a high standard. Acting as a representative of the core journals marketing service, you will work with internal and external stakeholders, clearly communicating strategy, handling queries, and supporting effective collaboration. Success in this role will be measured through strong campaign performance, positive impact on journal metrics such as submissions, and high levels of stakeholder satisfaction. You will ensure colleagues understand how marketing activity supports wider journal priorities, adapting plans where needed based on performance and feedback. With a strong understanding of the author journey, audience segmentation and the competitive landscape, you will help ensure our marketing strategies continue to support the success and growth of the journals portfolio. We operate a hybrid working policy that requires a minimum of 2 days per week in the Oxford office.

About You

  • Able to manage expectations and satisfaction of internal stakeholders (publishers, strategic engagement or OA marketers), and external stakeholders (societies/editors) discerning appropriate communication and service depending on priority.
  • Ability to think strategically about products and markets and demonstrate proficiency in digital marketing.
  • Ability to develop marketing strategies, using all available analytics to make informed decisions and to improve outcomes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders in diverse locations and functions.
  • Some experience in journals marketing and understanding of the scholarly publishing environment, specifically academic authors is desirable.
  • Ability to contribute in a positive way as a team member through periods of substantial change and uncertainty.
  • Manage multiple campaigns and deadlines, prioritizing based on business goals and data, and remaining resilient under pressure and changing environments.

Benefits

  • Work/life balance: 25 days’ holiday that rises with service, plus bank holidays and Christmas closure (3 days) and a 35‑hour working week.
  • Paid leave and financial benefits: pension contribution up to 12%, loans and savings schemes through Salary Finance, travel to work schemes and access to a wide range of local discounts.
  • Discretionary annual payment.
  • Rewards and Recognition page provides more information.
  • Active employee networks and societies.
