Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic Band nurse to join our nurse-led unit at Swindon Renal Unit.

The unit provides an outpatient service of haemodialysis, home dialysis, renal and transplant clinics for patients in Swindon and surrounding areas, and is a satellite unit of the Oxford Kidney Unit.

Unit is closed Sundays, Christmas and New Years Day. It is open Monday to Saturday with no night shifts. Twilight shifts up to midnight on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Join our highly motivated team committed to a high quality of service. We highly support staff educational and professional development.

If you are committed to delivering excellence in patient care, we would like to hear from you!

Our unit encourages nurses who are interested in working in an area of excellent mix of technology, clinical expertise, building strong positive patient relationships and patient education.

Experience in renal nursing is helpful but not essential; most importantly, you should have an interest in renal medicine, be a team player, keen to learn and be able to demonstrate a commitment to delivering high quality care.

Main duties

  • Provide and maintain a high standard of care based upon and reflecting the beliefs of nursing practice outlined in the unit philosophy for patients receiving renal replacement therapy and patients attending outpatient clinics or the unit for other treatments related to their renal failure.
  • Be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care for a named group of patients who are receiving maintenance haemodialysis.
  • Act as coordinator of the clinical area on a daily basis, sometimes in the absence of a more senior member of staff on site.
  • Supervise and teach new staff, renal course students, renal care assistants and pre‑registration students and assist in the development of junior staff.
  • Working for our organisation

By joining, you will work for a world‑renowned centre of clinical excellence and one of the largest NHS teaching trusts in the UK.

OUH is committed to ensuring our staff are proud to work at OUH and can give of their best and fulfil their potential.
