The Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre sees a range of patients requiring orthopaedic surgery. The role involves managing, communicating with, and leading a team of nursing staff, consisting of Registered nurses, nursing assistants, and AHPs within the pre-op department.
Main duties include:
- Managing service needs within the department relating to Government and Trust initiatives, ensuring targets are defined, met, and continued.
- Proactively managing the pre-op Department, ensuring staff, service needs, trust, and unit targets are met.
- Managing a defined budget.
- Being responsible for pre-op staff, adhering to related Trust policies.
- Ensuring the patient’s journey is as smooth as possible, responding to the complex needs of individual patients and multiple services within the department.
- Resolving any patient complaints, maintaining confidentiality at all times, and ensuring sensitive information is managed and cascaded appropriately.
Collaboration with various stakeholders is essential, including the Clinical Lead for the service, consultants, doctors, AHPs, GPs, other managers/departments, community/primary care staff, and Directorate service managers.
