Job Overview
As a specialist prosthetics physiotherapist, you will provide specialist assessment, treatment and ongoing support to patients undergoing pre‑prosthetic and prosthetic rehabilitation, including complex patients and those requiring high‑specification prosthetic components such as micro‑processor knees.
Responsibilities
- Provide specialist assessment and treatment of patients undergoing pre‑prosthetic and prosthetic rehabilitation, including complex cases and micro‑processor knees.
- Serve as an autonomous physiotherapy practitioner, delivering a high standard of therapy service to patients within the prosthetics team.
- Communicate and liaise with other physiotherapists and healthcare professionals within Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and colleagues in the Service’s catchment area to facilitate best practice in pre‑prosthetic and prosthetic rehabilitation.
- Supervise and teach physiotherapy assistants and students.
- Provide teaching and training to other therapists, MDT members, patients and carers, both within the Trust and externally.
- Undertake evidence‑based projects, including developing recommendations for change in practice and participating in departmental research and audit.
- Deputise for the Band physiotherapist (Clinical Lead) in their absence and manage the clinical caseload.
