The main objective of the Research Sister is to support the implementation and delivery of research studies in accordance with The International Conference on Harmonisation Good Clinical Practice Guidelines (ICH-GCP). The post-holder will work with a cohort of Ophthalmology patients with all Chief Investigators, ensuring each study is efficiently run, meeting all clinical, ethical and financial targets. The role will enable understanding of key areas that affect patient’s response to disease, including response to treatment and disability, and generate novel research findings with potential for key impact on day-to-day care. This list of responsibilities will develop over time as knowledge and experience to the post is established. The proportion of time devoted to each task will vary from time to time, and according to the projects and departmental activity.
Main duties of the job
- Coordinate and conduct investigator-led, national, international, and commercial trials.
- Ensure compliance with ICH-GCP and regulatory approvals.
- Deliver patient care and manage trial interventions, including novel medications.
- Maintain accurate records and complete case report forms.
