The Day Treatment Unit (DTU) at the Churchill Hospital cares for patients with cancer who require a wide range of Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapies (SACT) including classic chemotherapy and newer novel agents such as immunotherapies and gene therapy.
We are looking for a dynamic, experienced and innovative nurse to join our Haematology DTU team as a deputy nurse manager to help the team achieve the best care for patients and the safe administration of SACT.
Main duties of the job:
- Assist the unit nurse manager provide clinical and managerial leadership for staff and the safe delivery of the SACT service, ensuring systems and processes are up to date.
- Be part of our multi-disciplinary team (MDT) ensuring patients attending the DTU are cared for to the highest possible standard.
- Contribute to the development of clinical practice in a positive manner in order to maintain a consistent, motivated day treatment focus.
- Be available to travel between DTUs at the Churchill and Horton hospitals to assist where required.
The applicant should be experienced in the administration of SACT, be able to communicate sensitively & effectively with patients, their carers and all members of the MDT and be an excellent team player. Full induction and training will be provided. The role is supervised and clearly linked to competencies that require completion within a pre-arranged time frame.
