An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Oncology and Haematology Directorate for a Deputy Directorate Manager position. The Churchill Hospital provides expert care for the Thames Valley for common tumour types, and for a wider region for rarer indications. The Oncology and Haematology Directorate covers several core services which are:
- Oncology - including an Oncology ward, teenage and young adult unit and Radiotherapy department with linear accelerators
- Haematology - including a Haematology ward, Bone Marrow Transplant service and patient hotel
- Oncology and Haematology share a bedded emergency triage service, two chemotherapy day treatment units (Oxford and Banbury) and an ambulatory unit
- Palliative Care - includes day services, a hospital team and a community palliative care service, all provided in conjunction with Sobell House Hospice Charity
The directorate also hosts a number of Trust wide services including Radiation Physics and Protection, Clinical Measurement and Clinical Engineering. The department has close links with the University of Oxford, and Cancer Research UK, and is a base for world-leading research in the field, so that patients have rapid access to a wide range of new treatments.
Main duties of the job:
- The Deputy Directorate Manager for the Oncology and Haematology Directorate will support the Directorate Manager, who in conjunction with the Clinical Director and with support of the Matron, are responsible for the operational management of services.
- The DDM will have a similar portfolio of responsibilities to the DM.
- Service delivery and development
- Business Planning and Financial Management
- Human Resource Management
- Quality, Clinical Governance and Risk Management
The post holder will be responsible for leading and delivering success across a number of key programmes within the Directorate. These programmes will be vital in ensuring the Directorate can deliver its primary objectives and targets over the coming years and will encompass a wide range of topics, including productivity and efficiency, quality, workforce and clinical effectiveness.
