An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, qualified RN to be appointed as a band on our Day Case Unit at Horton Hospital. We are looking to employ an enthusiastic and dynamic RN to complement our existing team.

Our ward consists of surgical and medical bays. We support a wide variety of surgical disciplines including general surgery, gynaecology, colorectal, endocrine, urology, breast surgery, vascular access, community dental, trauma, ENT and oral surgery. We also undertake IBD infusions, blood transfusions and venesections in a separate bay on the unit.

Main duties of the job

  • Assessing, planning, delivering and evaluation of patient care
  • Delegation and supervision of junior grades, unqualified and less experienced staff
  • Working with members of the Multi Disciplinary Team following local protocols and standards
  • Awareness of the effective management of resources within the department
  • Participate in clinical trials and research when required
  • Provide a leadership role model and demonstrate specialist knowledge
  • To admit, recover and discharge surgical patients
  • Cannulation of infusion patients
  • To work within the infusion setting administering IBD drugs as required
  • Adhering to high standards of clinical practice and provision of support or advice as required
