Building on your foundation knowledge, experience and skills, you will work in a dynamic setting to deliver compassionate excellence. As a specialist pharmacist, you will develop across all four pillars of practice to prepare for an advanced practice role. This 12-month rotational program offers exposure to various clinical areas, allowing you to integrate, expand your expertise, mentor others, contribute to service development or research, and demonstrate leadership skills. The post requires ensuring effective communication between the pharmacy team and clinical areas, maintaining high standards of medicines management, and achieving specific rotation objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Deliver patient-focused clinical pharmacy services aligned with medicines optimisation principles and local procedures.
  2. Analyze prescriptions and patient information to determine appropriate actions.
  3. Communicate medicines-related information effectively to healthcare professionals and patients, including those with communication challenges.
  4. Ensure smooth transfer of patient care through medicines reconciliation and communication with GPs and community pharmacies.
  5. Participate in antimicrobial stewardship, medicines safety, and effectiveness initiatives.
  6. Complete training in clinical trials and support investigational medicinal product supply where relevant.
  7. Develop scope of practice to become a Non-Medical Prescriber (NMP) upon registration.
  8. Support dispensaries and liaise with external agencies to ensure safe medication supply.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Masters Degree (4-year MPharm or equivalent) in Pharmacy
  • Registered with the GPhC
  • Postgraduate Certificate in Pharmacy Practice, with plans to complete the diploma or equivalent credentials.

  • Postgraduate diploma/MSc in Pharmacy Practice or equivalent experience.
  • Independent Prescriber status.
  • Leadership training and experience in multiple clinical settings.
  • Experience working with healthcare professionals and in quality improvement projects.
