Job overview:

  • A unique opportunity has arisen to join the diverse and unique Oral, Maxillofacial, Orthodontics & Restorative Dentistry (OMFSORD) Outpatients team.
  • To manage, communicate with, and lead a team of nursing staff, consisting of registered nurses, registered dental nurses, nursing assistants and technicians to deliver high standards of care within Outpatients.
  • To manage service needs within the department relating to Government and Trust initiatives, GDC compliance, ensuring targets are defined, met and continued.
  • To proactively manage the OMFSORD Outpatients Department, ensuring staff, service needs, trust and unit targets are met.
  • To manage a defined budget.

Main duties of the job:

  • To be responsible for outpatient staff, adhering to related Trust policies.
  • Ensure the patient’s journey is as smooth as possible, looking and responding to the complex needs of individual patients and multiple services within the department.
  • Resolving any patient complaints, maintaining confidentiality at all times, ensuring sensitive information is managed and cascaded appropriately.
  • Working closely with, communicating and liaising with: consultants, doctors, GP’s, other managers/departments, community/primary care staff, directorate managers, and each of the specialty teams.

Person specification:

  • Proven Band 6 experience / proven leadership.
  • Evidence of substantial CPD in management and other clinically related subjects.
  • Attained or working toward MSc.
  • An awareness of general management ie finance, HR and business development.
  • Experience / Course in Pre operative assessment.
