Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Midwifery Leadership Team to ensure excellent standards around the environment, infection control practices, high standards of cleanliness and compliance with National and local standards.
  • Provide professional and managerial leadership of designated community midwifery teams and specialist midwives.
  • In conjunction with the practice development team, ensure that all midwifery staff working within their care setting are supported to provide evidence-based care.
  • Be accessible and visible to staff, service users and visitors.

Qualifications

  • Registered Midwife.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of maternity Community Services.
  • Ability to confidently practice in community and birth centre settings.
  • Ability to lead and manage a multi-professional team.
  • Awareness of the political climate and new developments in maternity services.
  • Experience of ward or department budget management and financial issues (Desirable).
  • Management and/or Leadership qualification (Desirable).
  • Varied experience in Senior Managerial roles (Desirable).
  • Evidence of audit or research projects (Desirable).

Our Maternity Services have around 7,500 babies born annually with four stand-alone midwifery-led birth units in Banbury, Chipping Norton, Wantage and Wallingford, plus integrated midwifery-led units at the John Radcliffe Hospital.
