An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join our Kidlington based Manufacturing department in a rapidly expanding and exciting work environment.
About The Role
As part of the Manufacturing Engineering team you will be responsible for ensuring efficient and effective translation of prototype and production intent electric powertrain products from design into manufacture. As a leading part of a friendly and supportive community Senior Manufacturing Engineers will deliver into production a variety of prototype, low volume or high-volume high value/margin products, successful completion of which will involve supervision and mentorship of junior engineers on projects, driving innovation initiatives, and management of relationships with external stakeholders.
What You Will Do
- Production and/or review of technical deliverables including Bills of Material (BOM), Process Flows, Tooling specifications or work instructions.
- Develop and engage with other functions to establish and implement production line layouts, including sourcing and installing equipment.
- Conduct validation activities such as ‘dry builds’ or process experiments and failure investigations to qualify any designed processes and equipment.
- Design/develop/implement new/improved production processes or technologies that reduce costs, improve quality or otherwise add value to Fortescue Zero’s manufacturing operations.
- Organise own work schedule and those of supporting Manufacturing Engineers.
- Attend design reviews and collaborate with engineers to suggest and implement design improvements focused on ergonomics, quality, efficiency and safety of manufacture.
- Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Produce written reports and make presentations to project teams.
- Contribute to developing best manufacturing practices at Fortescue Zero that extend a competitive advantage.
- Contribute to the training and professional development of Manufacturing and Junior Manufacturing Engineers within the team.
- Ensure that the function operates in accordance with any health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors.
About You
- HNC/HND/degree in Manufacturing, Engineering or a related discipline or equivalent experience.
- Chartership or Incorporation with a relevant professional institution would be beneficial.
- A team player with the ability to work on own initiative, and able to influence others by demonstrating a positive “can do” attitude.
- An ability to act on own initiative and produce positive outcomes through practical action plans.
- An ability to prioritise and organise own workload.
- Proficient written, verbal, and interpersonal skills to communicate a variety of information in a timely and clear manner.
- Ability to foster and collaborate effectively within a pro-active team environment.
- Sensitivity to the requirements and expectations of other teams within the business and the ability to develop positive working relationships.
- Experience working in both prototype and low and high-volume production environments is desirable.
- Experience using Siemens Teamcenter, MPP, NX, Op-Center and NoMuda Visual Factory software would be beneficial.
- Experience working with High Voltage products would be beneficial.
- A good understanding of one or more of TS16949, AS9100, ISO14001 and ISO9001 would be beneficial.
