Junior Quantum Engineer
Opportunity
As a Junior Quantum Engineer, you’ll work alongside our experimental team to prepare, undertake and document experiments with microwave and cryogenic resonator structures. This is a great opportunity for an individual without a PhD, with a strong interest in Quantum Computing to make a real impact in a cutting-edge field.

Role
Our experimental team is looking for a keen, passionate individual to mentor and work alongside industry experts to gain valuable experimental skills. Initially, you will work with others to support the setup, experiments, and documentation with microwave and cryogenic resonator structures. Once comfortable in this role, you will then have the chance to work independently. You will also have the opportunity to present your findings to your immediate team and the wider OQC community in the form of presentations and graphs.
Person Specification
- Set up experiments for taking measurements in cryogenic environments.
- Perform, analyse and interpret microwave measurements of resonator structures.
- Gather data from measurements in a meticulous and timely manner.
- Automate measurements and analyse with assistance from the team.
- Document each stage in experimental detail throughout the experiment to understand ‘what’ and ‘how’ this has been done.
- Present results from experiments to the team and wider community.
Skills and Experience
- Masters in either Physics, Material Science or Computer Science.
- Genuine interest in Quantum Computing.
Desired
- Basic understanding of Python.
- Experience with setting up experiments.
- Created and maintained documents using experimental language.
