At OQC, we aren’t just theorising about the future; we’re building it. Born from a philosophy of bold innovation, we’ve successfully transitioned quantum computing from an academic dream into a commercial reality. But we’re just getting started. If you’re driven to push the absolute boundaries of R&D and engineer the breakthroughs that will redefine human computation, then you belong here.
We are looking for various levels of FPGA Engineers to join our collaborative Control Systems team. You will be responsible for designing the "nervous system" of our quantum computer, the FPGA-based hardware that generates the ultra-precise microwave pulses required to control qubits. This role is about solving complex engineering problems to deliver high-performance, reprogrammable solutions with sub-nanosecond timing precision and low-error deterministic outputs.
What You’ll Be Working On:
- Design & Own: Create FPGA solutions for quantum control systems that handle complex signal generation.
- Prototype & Test: Define KPIs for hardware readiness and push the boundaries of system performance.
- Hands-on Debugging: Use high-end lab equipment and test infrastructure to troubleshoot hardware "in the wild."
- Collaborate: Work across disciplines with Hardware, Firmware, Software, and R&D teams to bridge the gap between code and quantum logic.
For Senior Engineers:
- Lead complex, system-wide projects and own architectural decisions.
- Mentor junior engineers and lead technical reviews.
- Influence supplier selection, component quality, and the long-term hardware roadmap.
What We’re Looking For:
We value strong fundamentals, technical curiosity, and a passion for challenging hardware problems.
- Core Experience:
- Languages: Expert-level development in Verilog, SystemVerilog, and/or VHDL.
- Technical Rigor: Proven track record in testing, verification, and achieving timing closure.
- Systems: Experience with performance-critical or low-latency systems.
- Hardware: Comfort with hands-on debugging and multidisciplinary collaboration.
The "Nice to Haves":
- Altera FPGA design ecosystem.
- Knowledge of DSP, RF, SDR, or microwave systems.
- Experience with ADC/DAC and mixed-signal systems.
- Python for automation, test tooling, and Git/CI/CD workflows.
Why Join OQC? You will join a world-class team at the forefront of the next computational era. We offer a culture of bold innovation, the chance to work with unique lab infrastructure, and the opportunity to see your designs control the world’s most advanced quantum processors.
