Adults Clinical Psychologist
Location
Care First – Pheasey, Walsall area, Birmingham (clinical team supports services at Walsall, Kings Norton and Walsall).
Salary
Up to £60,000 pro‑rated DOE.
Hours & Contract
Part Time – 2 days per week. Permanent contract (term‑time only or flexible full‑time options may be discussed).

Overview
We are looking for an experienced Clinical Psychologist to join a friendly multidisciplinary team in a rewarding education setting. The role offers opportunities to participate in research, special interest groups, and to support the development of an enhanced psychological therapy offer for adults with learning difficulties/disabilities, autism and mental health difficulties.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct bespoke assessment and intervention plans for adult service users.
- Work within a multidisciplinary team including Speech and Language Therapy and Occupational Therapy.
- Utilise a model of ‘assess, plan, do and review’ to deliver evidence‑based care.
- Provide supervision and training where appropriate and support service development.
- Maintain accurate and coherent clinical records, including consultation and intervention reports.
- Apply trauma‑informed practice and neuro‑diversity principles to tailoring interventions.
- Contribute to service quality assurance, policy compliance and safeguarding culture.
- Engage families, relatives and carers effectively in care planning.
- Support training initiatives and CPD for the clinical team.
Essential Criteria
- Registered with the HCPC.
- Doctoral level degree in Clinical/Counselling/Forensic/Educational Psychology (or equivalent).
- Relevant experience working with related client groups.
- Effective multidisciplinary working experience.
- Experience of communicating with families/relatives and carers.
- Experience of working across service development, group and individual levels.
- Experience with a model of ‘assess, plan, do and review’.
- Experience of using consultation as a service delivery method.
- Competent in all core areas of psychological practice (HCPC standards).
- Knowledge of client group needs and trauma‑informed & neuro‑diversity practice.
- Ability to develop and communicate formulations and intervention plans.
- Ability to deliver training to diverse cohorts.
- Excellent written communication – coherent clinical records, consultation reports and intervention plans.
- Effective IT skills.
- Problem‑solving and service development skills.
- Evidence of ongoing CPD.
- Use of evaluation tools to demonstrate service effectiveness.
- Independent clinical decision‑making ability.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills.
- Ability to prioritise multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
