We are currently seeking an experienced Specialist Occupational Therapist to join a specialist palliative care service in Newry. This role involves providing high-quality occupational therapy to patients with complex palliative care needs, working as part of a multidisciplinary team to support independence, comfort and quality of life.
Key Requirements
- Minimum 3 years’ post-graduate Occupational Therapy experience
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary team
- Experience providing Occupational Therapy interventions to palliative care patients in an acute and/or community setting
- Registered with the HCPC
- Diploma or Degree in Occupational Therapy recognised by WFOT
- Experience in postural management and prescription of specialised seating systems
- Experience assessing and recommending adaptive equipment
- Excellent communication, organisational and prioritisation skills
- Ability to work independently and effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Full UK driving licence and access to a car for work purposes, including appropriate business insurance, or another suitable arrangement
Desirable Experience
- Experience in fatigue, anxiety and dyspnoea management
- Knowledge of current oncology and palliative care guidelines
- Experience facilitating group activities
- Experience participating in audit or research
- Experience using cognitive screening tools
- Postgraduate development in palliative care or a related specialist area
- Knowledge and understanding of RQIA standards
