We are currently seeking an experienced Specialist Occupational Therapist to join a specialist palliative care service in Newry. This role involves providing high-quality occupational therapy to patients with complex palliative care needs, working as part of a multidisciplinary team to support independence, comfort and quality of life.

Key Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years’ post-graduate Occupational Therapy experience
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience providing Occupational Therapy interventions to palliative care patients in an acute and/or community setting
  • Registered with the HCPC
  • Diploma or Degree in Occupational Therapy recognised by WFOT
  • Experience in postural management and prescription of specialised seating systems
  • Experience assessing and recommending adaptive equipment
  • Excellent communication, organisational and prioritisation skills
  • Ability to work independently and effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car for work purposes, including appropriate business insurance, or another suitable arrangement

Desirable Experience

  • Experience in fatigue, anxiety and dyspnoea management
  • Knowledge of current oncology and palliative care guidelines
  • Experience facilitating group activities
  • Experience participating in audit or research
  • Experience using cognitive screening tools
  • Postgraduate development in palliative care or a related specialist area
  • Knowledge and understanding of RQIA standards
