We are looking for a Cloud Engineer to join our Customer Platforms team. Our team works with stakeholders across the business to deliver reliable, high-quality customer experience from end-to-end, from our corporate website to our critical business systems integration. The role is primarily focused on extending and improving our cloud infrastructure, but has the opportunity to extend into application development work. You will be working closely with a friendly, high-performing, cross-disciplinary team with knowledge and interests across our business and software stack.
Key responsibilities
- Infrastructure-as-code – working closely with the team to design and implement new features using AWS, Terraform and GitLab.
- Observability and support – performing root-cause analysis of incidents and improving our OpenTelemetry/Grafana observability tools.
- Security – ensuring security by design, governance and compliance across our applications, monitoring vulnerabilities and implementing automated security testing.
- Continuous improvement and continuous delivery – ensuring we deploy confidently and quickly by improving and maintaining our testing and deployment processes in GitLab CI.
Essential skills
- Infrastructure as Code in Terraform.
- Deploying to AWS, especially ECS, CloudFront, Lambdas, EventBridge and SQS.
- Securing applications and data in a hybrid cloud.
- CI/CD Automation.
- OpenTelemetry for observability.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Desired skills
- Cost control and calculation in cloud environments.
- Asynchronous architectural patterns, including event-based architectures.
- Programming experience or background.
- Compliance with frameworks such as ISO270001, ISO9001 and ISO13485, GMP and GDPR.
