We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join the Commercial Applications team in EMEAI. This role is to be based in Oxford, full time on site.

The Commercial Applications team is an established team that strives to generate revenue and support key customers while working with the newest and most innovative released technologies. The team carries out tailored pilot projects for potential customers to demonstrate the quality and benefits of Nanopore sequencing in order to drive new customer acquisition and support sales in the EMEAI region. Furthermore, the team uses its expertise in Nanopore sequencing and data analysis to support key customers in delivering high-impact projects. Projects will cover the full range of existing and new applications of Nanopore sequencing platforms, including DNA and RNA sequencing.

You will work with wet- and dry-lab scientists to generate and interpret sequencing data in a range of contexts. You will design, prototype, optimise and run sequencing experiments to answer specific questions arising as part of pilot projects and to support existing customers in achieving defined goals. You will communicate your findings to internal team members and present your work in meetings and to customers.

Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to):

  • Extract and prepare nucleic acids for DNA and/or RNA sequencing using a variety of methods.
  • Generate sequencing data on Oxford Nanopore sequencing platforms for downstream bioinformatic analysis.
  • Communicate with bioinformaticians during experimental design and data analysis phases.
  • Maintain accurate records so that work can subsequently be followed up, reported or interrogated.
  • Liaise with customers, customer support teams and other key stakeholders to discuss projects and report experimental results throughout the planning, implementation and evaluation phases.
  • Organise and analyse large sequencing datasets for quality control and beyond.
  • Improve sample preparation processes and implement new methodologies.

What We're Looking For:

  • MSc (or equivalent experience) in biochemistry or a relevant physical/biological discipline, with industry experience in a relevant field. If the candidate does not have industry experience, a PhD in life sciences (or equivalent experience) is required.
  • Knowledge of sample and library preparation for next-generation sequencing (NGS), ideally with hands‑on experience using Oxford Nanopore platforms.
  • Experience with extraction and manipulation of DNA and/or RNA samples, along with a broad set of molecular biology skills.
  • Excellent time and project management, with a methodical approach to problem‑solving.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of organisation.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.

We offer outstanding benefits, including an attractive bonus, generous pension contributions, private healthcare and a competitive starting salary.
