Oxford Medical Simulation (OMS) builds immersive, scenarioâbased simulations that help clinicians learn safely and deliver better patient care. Our art team (art, animation, tech art/tech anim) is central to bringing clinical reality to life in Unity.
We are hiring an Art Producer to create pace and clarity across our art disciplines, stand up and manage external art vendors to keep us shipping. You wonât be a line manager; youâll be the forceâmultiplier who sequences work, clears blockers, and raises quality.
What youâll be doing:
- Own planning & flow: Build and run the art plan across multiple interdependent projects; map dependencies; run sprint/milestone cadences with Simulation Delivery.
- Prioritise with purpose: Balance capacity vs. demand; keep a visible, trusted source of truth (Jira/ShotGrid or equivalent) for whoâs doing what and when.
- Vendor program: Source, evaluate, and onboard outsource partners; define SOWs, budgets, SLAs, and style/tech packs; manage throughput, feedback, and acceptance.
- Quality gates: Define acceptance criteria; run reviews; ensure deliveries meet style and technical compliance.
- Pipeline stewardship: Partner with Tech Art to evolve Unity pipelines (FBX import, rig/retarget, Avatar/Timeline, prefab variants, addressables).
- Risk management: Track critical path, unblock issues fast, manage change requests, and communicate decisions clearly to stakeholders.
- Reporting & KPIs: as needed.
- Crossâteam comms: Keep Art, Delivery, Product, Engineering, and QA aligned with concise updates and decision logs.
Who you are:
- Production experience creating, managing and shipping 3D content in Unity across multiple art disciplines (env, characters, props, animation).
- Deep understanding of art/anim pipelines (rigging/retargeting, import/export, materials/shaders, LODs, performance optimisation in URP/HDRP).
- Vendor management experience (outsourcing/insourcing mix, SOWs, budgets, SLAs, feedback cycles, QC).
- Proven scheduling & tooling: Comfortable in Jira/ShotGrid (or similar), Google Workspace, version control, and documentation hygiene.
- Technical literacy: You can evaluate quality and technical compliance.
- Bias to action: High energy, proactive communication, and a calm head under time pressure.
- Mission alignment: Motivated by improving clinical readiness and patient outcomes.
- Comfortable using AI to improve efficiency and productivity within the team and your role.
Bonus Points:
- Handsâon skills in Maya, Substance 3D, ZBrush and Unity lookâdev.
- Experience in medical/serious games or other performanceâconstrained 3D applications.
- Familiarity with addressables, asset bundles, and automated validation tools.
- Basic budgeting/forecasting for vendor throughput.
