Oxford Lasers Ltd is a high-technology company headquartered in Didcot, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom. The company designs and manufactures laser-based systems, supplies subcontract laser services and carries out after-sales services to both academia and industry around the globe.

The Company was founded in 1977 as a spin-out from Oxford University and still retains its unique skills in laser technology and applications. The Company operates two divisions; Micromachining and Imaging. Micromachining systems use lasers to create highly precise microscopic holes, cuts or texturing in a wide range of materials. Imaging systems use lasers to produce very short, intense pulses of light to illuminate high-speed imaging processes and analyse fast-moving particles in industrial applications. Our customers range from large semiconductor manufacturers operating 24/7 to leading edge research groups and our systems installations are throughout the UK, Europe, the Americas, Australasia and the Middle East.

We are currently seeking an experienced International Service Engineer to support our global laser micromachining customer base. This role will suit someone with at least 2-3 years of experience as a service engineer wanting to develop a career in a high-tech industry. Ability to travel globally at relatively short notice is essential for this role. The position will report to the Service Manager and will be based out of the Didcot, Oxfordshire, UK headquarters.

You will have the opportunity to work on leading-edge laser micromachining systems, from installation through to equipment and application support. You will be expected to contribute to and facilitate team collaboration and agile practices and to share your skills with the team and to support other engineers. A knowledge of lasers and optics, together with strong fault finding skills is important. Full job specifications upon request.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the global laser micromachining customer base from installation through to equipment and application support.
  • Collaborate with the team and contribute to agile practices; share skills with colleagues and support other engineers.
  • Travel globally at relatively short notice as required by project demands.

Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of experience as a service engineer or equivalent in a high-tech environment.
  • Knowledge of lasers and optics with strong fault-finding skills.
  • Able to travel globally on short notice.
