My client is an award-winning multi-strategy hedge fund and Fixed Income Macro (FIM) is one of their major lines of business. They deploy capital in the developed interest-rate & currency markets – focusing on liquid products – including nominal and inflation-protected government bonds, interest-rate swaps, futures, options, and agency mortgage-backed securities. Strategies are primarily concentrated in the US, European and Sterling markets, combining macroeconomic analysis, quantitative modeling, and rigorous portfolio construction to identify and capture opportunities.
The full stack software engineer role on the FIM Investment Toolkit team offers a unique opportunity to drive significant cross-functional impact. Looking for an individual who demonstrates strong ownership, takes initiative, and thrives in an environment where they can take charge of critical projects and strategic initiatives. Your contributions will be instrumental in building the next generation of pre-trade and risk management tooling for our Portfolio Managers.
The candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Develop full stack analytical tools used daily by discretionary trading desks for pre-trade analytics and risk management.
- Collaborate with investment, research, and engineering teams to build next generation, web-based trading and research applications.
- Work directly with trading desks and other business stakeholders to gather feedback and requirements to further develop our toolkit.
Key Responsibilities
- Understand the FIM investment process and drive the future of the UI strategy within that context.
- Collaborate with technology teams to drive the future agenda for FIM’s investment toolkit platform, using modern infrastructure and analytical tools.
- Communicate effectively across interdisciplinary teams – research, engineering, investing and design.
- Become an expert in the firm’s systems and technologies to support accelerating integration of analytics into all processes.
Skillset Requirements
- Excellent coding skills in Typescript/React and at least one backend language, preferably Python.
- The ability to deliver strong UX/UI experiences.
- A desire to immerse oneself in all facets of fixed income and macro trading.
- Proficiency in both Linux programming environment and cloud technologies.
- Great communication abilities, both written and verbal.
- Interest in mentoring and developing early career talent preferred.
