About the role
The successful candidate will join the global infrastructure team and will be responsible for developing the Kubernetes platform that supports the firm’s evolving technology stack. We are looking for a highly skilled Lead Kubernetes Engineer to architect, build, and lead the deployment and operation of scalable, secure, and high-performance Kubernetes environments. You will play a key role in designing container orchestration platforms, implementing GitOps workflows, mentoring team members, and driving best practices across the infrastructure and DevOps functions.
Requirements
- Design and lead the implementation of Kubernetes clusters (on-prem and/or cloud) with high availability, scalability, and security.
- Offer Kubernetes as a product to internal teams by delivering self-service capabilities (e.g., namespace provisioning, templated jobs, onboarding flows).
- Build reusable platform patterns and deployment blueprints using Helm, Kustomize, or custom controllers.
- Develop and maintain platform-aware GitOps workflows using tools like ArgoCD, Flux, and GitLab CI.
- Proven experience designing and operating production-grade Kubernetes environments (EKS, AKS, GKE, or bare-metal).
- Deep understanding of Kubernetes internals, including control plane components, CRDs, CNI, and storage provisioning.
- Deep understanding of container security, admission controllers, and policy enforcement tools (e.g., OPA/Gatekeeper).
- Implement RBAC, network policies, secrets management, and ensure platform compliance with internal and regulatory standards.
- Partner with DevOps, Security, and Application teams to enable multi-tenant, production-grade container platforms.
- Lead incident response and post-mortem analysis related to Kubernetes and container platform outages.
- Manage CI/CD integration with container workflows using GitOps or pipelines (e.g., ArgoCD, Flux, Jenkins, GitLab CI).
- Mentor and guide junior Kubernetes and platform engineers, fostering a strong engineering culture.
- Deep knowledge of DevOps tooling, including Terraform/Ansible, and CI/CD technologies such as Github, Jenkins, or Gitlab.
- Strong programming and scripting skills in Python, Golang, or similar languages.
- Deep knowledge of cloud infrastructure and multiple cloud technologies, with the ability to operate in and migrate across public and private clouds.
- Stay informed on industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure infrastructure automation and DevOps practices remain cutting-edge.
- As a senior engineering leader, partner closely with research and other infrastructure engineering teams, working in a highly collaborative manner.
