Role Description
The German Tutor will deliver high-quality, learner-centered German language instruction to individuals and small groups across a range of proficiency levels. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and delivering engaging lessons, preparing teaching materials, assessing student progress, providing constructive feedback, and maintaining accurate records of attendance and achievement. The tutor will adapt content and teaching methods to different learning goals, such as exam preparation, academic support, or professional language needs, and may contribute to curriculum development and resource sharing with colleagues. This role requires regular collaboration with the Academic Centre team and participation in staff meetings and training.

Qualifications
- Strong German language proficiency (near-native or native level) and excellent command of English for instruction and communication.
- Demonstrated skills in lesson planning, classroom management, and differentiated instruction for varied learner levels and objectives.
- Experience with language assessment, feedback, and progress tracking, including preparation for school exams or international language certifications.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse learners and foster an inclusive learning environment.
- Relevant teaching qualification or certification (e.g., PGCE, QTS or other teaching diploma preferred, or a degree level education in the relevant subject) and prior experience as a German tutor or teacher.
- Comfort using digital tools and educational technology to enhance teaching (e.g., online resources, interactive platforms, learning management systems).
- Strong organizational skills, reliability, and the ability to work collaboratively within an academic team.
- Experience in UK or international education settings and familiarity with university preparation or academic pathways is an advantage.
Contract: Casual, hourly paid
Hours: Flexible, according to student demand and tutor availability
Location: Central Oxford, with some online teaching where appropriate
