Module Lead and Lecturer - Professional Excellence Accelerator (PEA) and The Future of Work

The Module Lead and Lecturer for the Professional Excellence Accelerator (PEA) and The Future of Work will provide academic leadership and high-quality teaching for UHE UK's developmental and employability-focused provision at Level 4.

The postholder will be responsible for the design, coordination, delivery, monitoring and enhancement of both modules as structured learning experiences that support students' academic transition, digital fluency, professional identity, communication skills, employability and progression.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Module Leadership
• Lead the planning, coordination and ongoing development of the Professional Excellence Accelerator (PEA) and The Future of Work at Level 4.
• Ensure both modules are delivered consistently and effectively in line with programme aims and student needs.
• Develop and review module structures, schemes of work, weekly themes and learning activities.
• Maintain oversight of module content so that it supports academic success, engagement, retention, progression and employability.
• Review the relevance and effectiveness of delivery annually and recommend enhancements based on student feedback, attendance data and programme performance indicators.
• Work with Programme Leaders and academic colleagues to align module content with credit-bearing modules and wider programme aims.
• Teaching and Learning
• Deliver high-quality, engaging and inclusive teaching across both modules.
• Teach sessions in areas such as academic transition, critical thinking, academic writing, referencing, digital fluency, responsible and ethical use of AI, professional identity, employability and career readiness.
• Teach The Future of Work topics including skills for 2035, career development, diversity and inclusion, inclusive leadership, sustainability, digital transformation, talent pipelines, recruitment and selection, entrepreneurship, reflective practice, personal branding and professional pitching.
• Create an active, supportive and developmental learning environment that builds confidence, belonging and professional behaviours.
• Deliver workshops, tutorials and targeted interventions for students requiring additional support.
• Curriculum and Resource Development
• Produce and maintain high-quality teaching materials, workshop activities, guided tasks and developmental resources for both modules.
• Ensure all teaching materials are current, inclusive, professionally relevant and pedagogically appropriate.
• Populate and maintain Moodle/VLE pages with session content, resources, tasks and guidance.
• Develop materials that support both academic skills and professional development in a way that complements the subject curriculum.
• Contribute to the development of formative activities and reflective tasks appropriate to the nature of each module.
• Student Support and Engagement
• Support students in understanding the expectations of UK higher education and successful study at undergraduate level.
• Provide timely developmental feedback to students on their academic, digital and professional skills.
• Identify students at risk of disengagement or poor performance and work with academic and support teams to intervene early.
• Support student transition, confidence-building and sense of belonging.
• Contribute to induction, orientation and academic transition activities where required.
• Monitoring, Quality and Administration
• Monitor attendance, participation and engagement and ensure accurate record-keeping.
• Contribute to reporting on student engagement, participation trends and areas for improvement.
• Participate in quality assurance, standardisation and enhancement processes relating to both modules.
• Use student feedback, engagement data and progression indicators to evaluate impact and improve provision.
• Ensure both modules are delivered in accordance with institutional policies, academic expectations and quality processes.
• Carry out administrative duties associated with module leadership and teaching.
• Collaboration and Liaison
• Work closely with Programme Leaders, lecturers, Director of Teaching and Learning, and student support staff to ensure joined-up support for students.
• Liaise with teaching teams to ensure both modules support live academic demands within degree programmes and students' future employability.
• Participate in relevant meetings relating to curriculum development, student experience, retention and progression.
• Contribute to a collaborative and student-centred academic culture.
• General Responsibilities

Person Specifications

• Legal status
• Eligibility to live and work in the UK.
• Willingness to undergo a DBS check or overseas equivalent.

Qualifications

• A postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline such as Education, Business/Management, Human Resource Management, Employability, Applied Linguistics/EAP, Academic Practice or another relevant subject.
• For Level 6, a relevant Master’s degree and Ph D or substantial teaching and research or industry experience at that level.
• Formal teaching qualification PGCHE or Registered Practitioner of Advance HE.

• Experience of teaching students in higher education.
• Experience of delivering academic skills, study skills, professional skills, employability or transition support.
• Experience of supporting students from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds, including international students.
• Experience of designing teaching materials and learning activities.

• Experience of monitoring student participation and providing academic support or intervention.
