We are excited to announce an opportunity for a Technical Publications and Business Systems Manager to join our team in Severn Beach, Bristol, on a permanent basis. This pivotal role is designed to shape, articulate, and enhance the operational framework for engineering at OIPT. You will play a key role in analysing and refining our systems—such as software and BMS workflows—that drive our engineering processes, ensuring that we operate with maximum efficiency and deliver exceptional value to both our internal and external customers.
In this position, you will coordinate Technical Publications, along with PLM, CPQ, and MRP administration activities while strategically scheduling engineering resources for the LCM team. Additionally, you will represent the voice of engineering across various platforms within the organisation, fostering collaboration and innovation. Join us in making a significant impact
Key Responsibilities:
- Create a Business Systems and Technical Publications strategy.
- Manage the scheduling of engineering tasks and allocation of resources across the engineering department with the other Engineering Managers.
- Ensure the delivery of PLM, CPQ and MRP administration, as well as the roadmap development and maintenance of these critical systems.
- Provide training and support to the engineering team for our systems and software.
- Delivery of all customer-facing technical documentation for Plasma Technology.
- Oversight for the OI Technical Publications Hub, responsible for the consistent output of product documentation across the OI group.
- Provide engineering representation for the business S&OP process, including the capacity view.
- Responsible for the project management of Platform Version Control activity, ensuring releases happen as scheduled and responsible for communications on the content to the wider business.
- Provide ownership for the definition of engineering processes (such as our ECO, order administration and electrical drawing pack creation).
- Lead and deliver high-level business projects that span multiple departments
Education / Qualifications:
Professional Skills/ Abilities:
- Experience in managing Engineering or software teams.
- Experience of working as part of a Management team.
- Experience in Lifecycle management, including managing version release.
- Advanced use of Microsoft Word & Excel.
- Excellent report writing and communication skills.
- Microsoft Project – and advanced planning and scheduling techniques.
- Aware of product cost, reliability and safety issues.
- Keeps up with external trends in the job area.
- Identifies opportunities to improve systems and procedures and minimise or eliminate wastage.
- Knowledge of regulatory and standards compliance requirements.
- Capable of confidently checking/approving work whilst providing constructive feedback.
Preferred (But not essential):
- Knowledge of plasma processing equipment, vacuum chamber design, implications of using gas/RF and high voltage energy sources in design.
- EMC requirements.
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards
