We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Server Administrator to manage, maintain, and optimize our server infrastructure, supporting mission-critical systems and applications. This is a fully onsite role based at our Tubney Woods facility, requiring a hands-on presence for the monitoring and maintenance of physical and virtual server environments.
The ideal candidate will have experience with Windows server environments, virtualization platforms, backup systems, licensing infrastructure, and strong knowledge of cybersecurity and hosted services. You will play a key role in ensuring operational continuity, security, and system availability across the company.
The opportunity
As ourServer Administrator, you’ll take ownership of our server infrastructure, ensuring its reliability, security, and efficiency. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a proactive, problem-solving environment and has the technical expertise to support both physical and virtual server environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Server Management:Administer and maintain Windows servers to ensure stability and optimize performance.
- Virtualization:Configure and manage virtual machines using VMware vSphere or Hyper-V.
- Backup & Recovery:Monitor and test backup systems regularly to ensure business continuity.
- Cybersecurity:Enforce IT security policies to safeguard systems and data.
- Collaboration:Work with cross-functional teams and supervise two first-line IT support staff.
- Infrastructure Projects:Drive initiatives to improve system performance and reliability.
What We’re Looking For:
- Required Experience:
- Proven experience in server/system administration.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Windows Server 2012+ and centralized management tools (e.g., Windows Admin Centre).
- Hands-on experience with virtualization platforms like VMware vSphere or Hyper-V.
- Expertise in managing license servers (e.g., FlexLM) and backup technologies.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in an onsite environment.
- Experience with Linux server environments.
- Familiarity with scripting/automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python).
- Knowledge of web server technologies (e.g., Apache, PHP, WordPress).
- Previous leadership or team management experience.
