Materials Analysis is an Oxford Instruments Business Unit that manages our Electron Microscopy and Mechanical Microscopy products, Atomic Force Microscopes, Raman Microscopes and Benchtop NMR Products. We are part of the wider Oxford Instruments Group that also includes Andor Technology, NanoScience, Plasma Technology and X‑Ray Technology. We are looking for a Senior Project Manager to join our New Product Development Team to develop new products from planning through to a successful launch and first deliveries, ensuring a joined‑up cross‑functional process. This role is ideal if you have a proven track record of delivering product development projects in a high‑tech environment, orchestrating multiple projects across various teams. You are experienced with releasing products that may contain new technology in terms of software and hardware. You’re familiar with project management tools such as Microsoft Project, issue tracking systems, and status reporting and experienced in leading agile projects using Scrum, Kanban, or similar approaches. It would also be advantageous to have experience with configuring and using Azure DevOps. You have a Physics or Science Degree and formal training in project management.

What your role will look like:

  • To lead and manage the project deliverables as required by the stage‑gate development process.
  • To work with the engineering teams to track and report progress, costs, risks and issues at a business level.
  • To build and maintain a collaborative cross‑functional team with a shared project vision.
  • To work with the key stakeholders to ensure the overall project schedule, quality, feature set and costs meet the business requirements.
  • To work with Marketing, Sales, Service and Operations to ensure a seamless release and successful transition to routine shipping.
  • To advise on process continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Occasional travel to our Ulm site.

Location: We are based in High Wycombe (Cressex) and have hybrid working, which is particularly beneficial for this role due to the level of collaboration and interaction with other teams. Whilst this role is best suited to someone being hybrid, we still want to hear from those that may need to be considered on a remote basis (within the UK) with the expectation there will be necessary travel to High Wycombe when needed.
