About The Role

We’re looking for a Test Development Engineer to design, develop and support production test solutions for our electronic products and sub‑assemblies. Working closely with our external test solution partners and internal electronics, manufacturing and NPI teams, you’ll play a key role in transferring products from development into full production and supporting them throughout their lifecycle. This is a hands‑on, on‑site role based within a manufacturing and workshop environment, with the opportunity to influence test strategy for products used globally.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Develop, implement and maintain automated and manual test solutions for electronic assemblies and systems
  • Own test solution development in partnership with external suppliers, translating internal requirements into robust, scalable production tests
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, ensuring cost, size, complexity and manufacturability targets are met
  • Write, read, modify and debug test software (primarily C++, C# and/or Python)
  • Provide technical project management, leading discussions across engineering, manufacturing and external partners
  • Support the transfer of products into production, including test validation and ramp‑up
  • Work closely with electronics stakeholders and manufacturing teams, particularly within the PCBA test environment
  • Analyse production test data to identify trends, faults and improvement opportunities
  • Improve test efficiency, coverage, reliability and throughput
  • Support installation of test solutions within the global supply base
  • Occasional travel to global manufacturing sites (typically 1–2 trips per year)

What We’re Looking For

  • Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (or equivalent industry experience)
  • Strong experience developing test solutions for electronics and PCBAs
  • Experience with NPI / NPD and transferring products into manufacturing
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing requirements and production environments
  • Ability to work with automatic test equipment (ATE) and electronic instrumentation (oscilloscopes, DMMs, power supplies, etc.)
  • Software skills in C++, C#, and/or Python with the ability to read and adapt existing code
  • Experience working with subcontract manufacturers and external suppliers
  • Confident communicator able to lead technical discussions across disciplines
  • Comfortable working in a hands‑on workshop and office manufacturing environment

What You Can Expect

  • A role with real ownership and impact across NPI and production
  • Exposure to products used globally

Wellbeing

  • Annual leave: 25 days plus bank holidays and the option to purchase up to 12 weeks more
  • Employee Assistance Programme; including 24/7 telephone support, access to counselling, financial and debt management and access to trained legal advisors
  • Private health insurance, dental insurance and life assurance

Money & Lifestyle

  • MyDiscounts; save money with a number of leading retailers
  • Car salary exchange scheme: sacrifice part of your salary in exchange for a fully serviced, comprehensive insured electric or hybrid vehicle
  • TechScheme and CycleScheme: Purchase a bike and/or Tech or home goods from Currys/IKEA and spread the cost over 12 months.
  • Pension; all employees are eligible to join the Group Pension Plan administered by AVIVA.
  • Share incentive plan: Invest in your future and share in the success of the company by joining the share incentive plan.
