We are hiring for a Production Support Technician for our Operations department at Oxford Instruments Andor.

The Production Support Technician will support the RMA and the wider Cameras team. The role involves troubleshooting and repairing complex hardware faults on new and returned products, diagnosing and resolving production and RMA issues, escalating to engineering when necessary, and maintaining accurate production records.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting and repairing complex hardware faults on new and returned products
  • Optimising assembled systems to achieve desired specifications
  • Accurately completing assembly, test, and repair records
  • Strict adherence to production processes and quality control requirements
  • Accountability for own output, delivery, and quality of assigned production targets
  • Working with Engineering on New Product Introduction (NPI) to develop work instructions and deliver smooth transitions from NPI to production volume
  • Signing off NCPs within agreed parameters for designated products
  • Costing non‑warranty repairs using a template
  • Working independently with a minimum of supervision
  • Training new team members and operational staff when required
  • Continuously seeking ways to improve the product and processes
  • Co‑ordinating with stores on material supply and stock control processes and providing feedback when issues are spotted with BOMs or work orders
  • Ensuring all health and safety procedures are followed, identifying and reporting issues using SHEILD
  • Identifying opportunities to improve health and safety and supporting implementation
  • Maintaining high standards of housekeeping at all times
  • Other reasonable duties as required by management

Qualifications

  • HNC/HND level or equivalent with 3 years relevant experience in a high‑tech production environment OR 5 years relevant experience in a high‑tech production environment
  • Technically proficient with at least 3 years’ experience working with electronic and/or opto‑mechanical products
  • Demonstrated capability in identifying faults, investigating issues and steering resolutions
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, and other technical literature
  • Good soldering skills
  • Good manual dexterity required for handling/manipulation of small/delicate components
  • Good diagnostic skills including the effective use of DMM and Oscilloscope
  • Excellent attention to detail and good concentration levels
  • High level of computer literacy in an MS Windows environment
