We are looking for a Lead Test Engineer - Academy for a 12-month FTC to play a key role in developing the next generation of Test Engineering talent. This is a unique opportunity to combine your technical expertise with coaching, mentoring, and leadership responsibilities, helping new engineers, apprentices, and team members reach their full potential while supporting the delivery of world-class products., As the technical lead for our Test Engineering Academy, you will be responsible for training, coaching, and developing engineers at various stages of their careers. You will act as a subject matter expert, providing hands-on support while driving quality, consistency, and continuous improvement across the test function.

Responsibilities

  • Delivering structured training, coaching, and mentoring to new Test Engineers and Apprentices.
  • Supporting onboarding activities and accelerating technical competence through practical, hands-on learning.
  • Providing daily guidance and technical support to apprentice engineers and new starters.
  • Ensuring products are tested and delivered on schedule while fully complying with approved test procedures.
  • Promoting best practice and ensuring accurate completion of all test documentation and records.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives that enhance product quality, efficiency, and cost effectiveness.
  • Supporting fault analysis and corrective action activities through accurate FRACAS reporting and data capture.
  • Leading by example in quality, attendance, Health & Safety, housekeeping, and 5S standards.
  • Creating a positive learning culture that encourages collaboration, knowledge sharing, and high performance.
  • Working closely with manufacturing and engineering teams to continually improve test processes and capability.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience within a Test Engineering or Manufacturing Test environment.
  • Strong electro-mechanical assembly and/or test experience.
  • Ability to investigate technical issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
  • Experience fault-finding electrical or software-related issues independently.
  • Strong communication, coaching, mentoring, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to inspire, influence, and drive positive change.
  • Excellent organisational skills and a proactive, self-motivated approach.
  • HNC qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Good IT skills and the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.

Desirable

  • HND qualification or equivalent.
  • Experience working with vacuum and RF technologies.
  • Understanding of electronics and PLC-controlled systems.
