12 Month FTC Job Purpose
As an EDS Product Scientist, you will act as a technical expert in Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS), supporting internal and external stakeholders in maximising the value and performance of our products. You will drive technical excellence by developing sales enablement tools, supporting new product development, delivering demonstrations, and enhancing the capabilities of our global applications community. Working closely with your line manager and cross‑functional teams, you will help optimise product performance, identify improvement opportunities, and ensure our solutions meet evolving customer needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Expertise & Product Support
- Act as a subject matter expert in EDS analysis and microanalysis applications
- Provide second‑line technical support to customer services teams
- Analyse and interpret customer sample data, producing high‑quality reports
- Sales Enablement & Customer Engagement
- Develop sales enablement materials (with management review)
- Deliver customer demonstrations and support sales opportunities
- Conduct routine internal demonstrations of products and applications
- Product Development & NPI Support
- Support testing and validation of new software and hardware releases
- Collaborate with Product Management and NPI teams on product improvements
- Identify and escalate product performance issues and enhancement opportunities
- Demonstration & Lab Management
- Prepare samples for analysis and maintain demonstration readiness
- Catalogue and manage demonstration samples
- Support operation of demonstration facilities in line with defined processes
- Training & Knowledge Sharing
- Deliver internal training to global applications teams
- Upskill colleagues and contribute to knowledge‑sharing initiatives
- Support development of technical documentation and training materials
- Market Insight & Feedback
- Capture and communicate customer insights and market trends
- Provide feedback on product performance, customer needs, and opportunities
- Global Collaboration
- Engage with global applications teams to build knowledge and best practices
- Contribute to cross‑regional collaboration and community development
- Travel

Essential Criteria
Education
- MSc (or equivalent) in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or related discipline
Experience
- Significant hands‑on experience using EDS for real‑world sample analysis
- Strong working knowledge of electron microscopy and microanalysis
- Experience using analytical systems in an electron microscopy environment
- Experience developing technical materials (training, documentation, or sales collateral)
