The role

This is an exciting opportunity for academics, including those early in their careers (e.g., doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers) to join our team to inspire our driven and highly able students.

At Oxford High School, we are passionate about giving all of our students the freedom and agency to explore their academic passions beyond their core curriculum. We want to work with you to develop agile thinking in our students and deepen their understanding so that they can produce and proudly showcase original research.

To achieve this ambitious aim, as an Inspires Mentor, you will:

  • Mentor and assess small groups of Sixth Form students in the completion of their Warnock Extended Research Projects (independent research for Year 12 students)
  • Deliver inspiring masterclasses and other activities (e.g., lectures or clubs) for a range of students throughout the school stemming from your own research, or related disciplines.

We are looking to appoint people who are passionate about motivating and enabling the next generation to change the world for the better, and have expertise in one, or more, of the following fields:

  • Arts (Creative and/or Performing)
  • English
  • Humanities
  • Languages (Modern and/or Classical)
  • Mathematics
  • Medicine
  • Philosophy & Theology
  • Sciences (including technology and engineering)
  • Social Sciences

All Inspires Mentors will be entitled to full use of OHS facilities, as well as free school lunch and refreshments in the staff room, on days when they are employed.
