As a School Health Nurse, you will be at the forefront of delivering the 5-19 Healthy Child Programme, providing evidence-based, skilled nursing care within both primary and secondary school settings. Your work will be central to promoting health, well-being, and positive outcomes for children and young people across our community.

We have a 37.5 hour/week, all year round post in the West Locality (Burford, Carterton, Witney & Eynsham)

Applicants must have a full valid driving licence and have access to a vehicle for work. Adjustments can be considered in line with the Equality Act 2010 where required.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive health assessments.
  • Provide tailored health advice and interventions addressing physical, emotional, and mental health needs.
  • Work collaboratively with parents/carers, teachers, and multiagency partners including social care, mental health services, and primary care to support the holistic health needs of children and young people.
  • Identify and respond to safeguarding concerns, ensuring children and young people are protected and supported.
  • Support young people’s transition phases and promote self-care, resilience, and independence.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to data collection and evaluation to improve service delivery and outcomes.

  • Has experience in community or school nursing, safeguarding, and child health promotion.

Qualifications – academic/professional

Essential criteria

  • First Level Registered Nurse
  • Specialist Community Public Health or equivalent demonstrable experience
  • Nurse prescriber V100 module or equivalent (or prepared to obtain qualification within 2 years)

Desirable criteria

  • Practice assessor/supervisor
  • Post-graduate qualifications

Knowledge Requirement

Essential criteria

  • Evidence of current requirements knowledge of National and Local policies and relevant research and the ability to relate it to practice
  • Demonstrates IT knowledge and skills.

Further training or job-related aptitude and skills

  • Excellent communicator with a high level of interpersonal and organisational skills
