Job overview

Are you a Registered Nurse or Midwife looking for your next challenge? Do you thrive in a busy, varied environment where no two days are the same? Are you passionate about delivering high-quality care and want to broaden your skills in a vital area of public health?

Our expanding Immunisation Team is looking for motivated, compassionate professionals to help protect the health of our communities. You’ll play a key role in delivering safe, effective immunisation programmes across a range of settings, working with people of all ages and backgrounds. In return, you’ll gain specialist knowledge, develop your clinical expertise, and be part of a supportive, collaborative team committed to excellence.

We are able to offer between 30 – 37.5 hours per week for this role.

If you’re ready to make a real difference and take your career to the next level, we’d love to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a Community Vaccinator preferably with some immunisation experience to help deliver the School Aged Immunisation Programme in Primary, Secondary and Independent Schools as well as other community venues.

The ability to be flexible to meet the needs of the Service is essential, as is a willingness to explore alternative methods of immunisation delivery to reduce health inequalities in hard-to-reach groups.

The role offers a flexible working pattern, to meet service need. Although you will work from your base you may be required to attend other areas of the county, if required, either to vaccinate in schools or attend promotional events to increase immunisation uptake.

You will be offered the opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills through regular training and study days and by working alongside experienced colleagues.

Working for our organisation

More than 6,000 people every day come to work at Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust, providing physical, mental health and social care across the Thames Valley and beyond.

Benefits of working for Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust include:

  • Excellent opportunities for career progression
  • 27 days annual leave, plus bank holidays, with an increase to 33 days with continuous service
  • NHS Discount across a wide range of shops, restaurants and retailers
  • Staff accommodation
  • Competitive pension scheme
  • Lease car scheme
  • Cycle to work scheme

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

You will be well organised, a strong communicator with good IT skills. Previous experience of working in schools or other environments with children and young people is advantageous but not essential. This is a fast moving and very busy role so the ability to work well under pressure and to be a key team player is a must. We are looking for adaptable, flexible people with excellent skills who will enjoy working in a challenging and busy environment.

To ensure that vaccination sessions commence on time you may need to start at 07.30 on prearranged days and also be able to work evenings and weekends. The ability to be flexible with ones working pattern is therefore essential.

Applicants must have a full valid driving licence and have access to a car for work. If necessary, adjustments can be considered in line with the Equality Act 2010.
