  • The Business

Oxford Flow was founded in 2015 as a spin‑out from The University of Oxford and produces some of the most precise and accurate flow control valves in the world.

We are an engineering‑led technology company which has revolutionised valve design with our range of Zero emissions control valves and regulators; these products will transform global fugitive emissions in industries such as oil & gas, gas transmission & distribution, and other process industries.

The addressable market for Oxford Flow’s innovative technology is a £5bn sector of the global £70bn valve and actuator market.

The Role

The Technical Sales Engineer I is an entry to mid‑level individual contributor responsible for supporting the commercial team by preparing technically sound, compliant, and commercially viable proposals for customer inquiries, RFQs, and tenders.

This role supports the sales cycle by coordinating with engineering, product management, and supply chain to deliver prompt, professional responses that align with customer requirements and internal standards.

Your existing technical understanding of valves will serve as a foundation for developing critical product knowledge in line with our sales strategy.

Crucial to this role will be your ability to determine customer needs in order to align our value proposition with current and future expectation.

  • Facilitate effective communication between customers, sales representatives, and internal stakeholders, ensuring seamless coordination and a positive customer experience.
  • Prepare standard technical proposals and quotations using approved templates and internal tools.
  • Review customer specifications, datasheets, and application details to define scope and determine basic compliance.
  • Maintain accurate records of all pricing, sales, and activity reports generated as part of the role.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Product Management, and Supply Chain for costing and lead time confirmation.
  • Collaborate with Commercial Operations to maintain all opportunity and proposal data in the CRM system (e. g., Salesforce) in a timely and complete manner.
  • Assist Sales and Business Development Managers with technical documentation during meetings or follow‑ups.
  • Assist Sales and Business Development Managers to secure deals during customer or site visits as needed.
  • Track proposal progress and meet deadlines for submissions.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by flagging gaps in proposal tools, templates, or processes.
  • Support trade shows and industry events if required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, industrial technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experienced in operating within highly regulated environments, particularly the Oil & Gas sector, successfully managing priorities and delivering results to challenging timescales.
  • Experience in technical sales, applications engineering, or proposal support roles is preferred, particularly with complex engineered products, flow control equipment, or valves.

However, candidates with limited experience who can demonstrate strong technical aptitude and a willingness to learn will also be considered.

  • Tools and Skills
  • Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point
  • CRM: Salesforce, Hubspot or similar
  • Engineering: Solidworks PDM would be beneficial but not essential
